Chapter 22: Bleeding
Simulation 1: Circulatory System


The circulatory system includes the heart and a complex network of blood vessels throughout the entire body. The heart is a muscular organ located in the middle of the chest behind the lower half of the breastbone. The heart pumps oxygen-rich blood through a network of veins and arteries to all areas of the body.

Delivery of Oxygen to Body Tissues
Arteries supply oxygen from the lungs.
Veins return oxygen-depleted blood.
